Marquette Park Bird Walk

Join COS for a bird walk at Marquette Park! This massive park features extensive lagoons, edge habitats, and an incredibly rare remnant prairie that make it a haven for all manner of species. We'll seek out migrating warblers, sparrows, and thrushes while scanning the lagoons for heron and duck species. Beginning birders welcome and loaner binoculars will be available.

You must RSVP in advance! Pre-registration is required. Please contact Edward Warden (edwarhzan@gmail.com) at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend or with questions.

Accessibility:
Total trip distance is approximately 1 mile and will take place on a combination of paved and wood-chip trails with mild elevation changes. Comfortable walking shoes or boots are recommended. (frowny face at going off trail)
Restrooms are available at the field house from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Weather/Attire/Other:
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Please bring bottled water. Dress for the weather. Based on the forecast, you may want to bring a hat and sunscreen. Long pants and insect repellant are recommended. Loaner binoculars will be available.

Location and Transportation:
Meet in the field house parking lot. Free parking is available at in the lot and nearby streets. Marquette Park is accessible by public transit via bus routes 52A, 67, and 94.

Public Health:
Please bring a face mask with you. You may be asked to wear it as needed by the trip leader.
