The Chicago Birder digital magazine is the official magazine of Chicago Ornithological Society. Published quarterly, it contains feature articles of high interest for birders, naturalists, and conservationists in Chicago and beyond. It is available exclusively to COS members.
Founded in 1989, The Chicago Birder began as a paper newsletter with club news, field trip reports, and identification tips. Later the newsletter was digitized to include full-color photos from our members. Now The Chicago Birder has evolved into a fully realized journal featuring work by local writers and photographers.
