Join COS for a spring migration birding trip at Humboldt Park! We'll be on the look-out for migratory songbirds, wading birds, and waterfowl as we traverse this iconic city park.
Leaders: Stephanie Beilke, Robyn Detterline, Chris Holden
Please contact Stephanie Beilke (stephanie.beilke@gmail.com) or Christina Harber (ceharber@yahoo.com) at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend or to be added to a waitlist.
Accessibility:
Total trip distance is approximately 1.5 miles and will take place mostly on wide paved, crushed-gravel, or wood-chip trails that are relatively level with minimal incline. We may leave the trail at times to walk through the grass for a better view of the birds. Any recent rain may create muddy conditions.
Restrooms are available at the field house starting at 10:00 a.m.
Weather/Attire/Other:
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Please bring bottled water. Dress for the weather. Based on the forecast, you may want to bring a hat and sunscreen. Long pants and insect repellent are recommended. Loaner binoculars will be available.
Location and Transportation:
The exact meeting location will be emailed in advance to registrants. Free parking is available at the Humboldt Park field house and boat house and the park is also accessible by public transit via the 72 and 95 CTA bus.
Public Health:
Please bring a face mask with you. You may be asked to wear it as needed by the trip leader.
