Join us for a Friday fall birding walk at Horner Park. We'll be looking for early fall migrants such as thrushes and warblers using the park's natural areas.
Leader: Stephanie Beilke
Please contact Stephanie Beilke (stephanie.beilke@gmail.com) or Chris Holden (twoheadedvireo@gmail.com) at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend or to be added to a waitlist.
Accessibility:
Total trip distance is approximately 1 mile and will take place mostly on wide paved, crushed-gravel, or wood-chip trails that are relatively level with minimal incline. We may leave the trail at times to walk through the grass for a better view of the birds. Any recent rain may create muddy conditions.
Restrooms are available at the field house starting at 9:00 a.m.
Weather/Attire/Other:
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Please bring bottled water. Dress for the weather. Based on the forecast, you may want to bring a hat and sunscreen. Long pants and insect repellent are recommended. Loaner binoculars will be available.
Location and Transportation:
The exact meeting location will be emailed in advance to registrants. Free parking is available on the street and there is a parking lot. Horner Park is accessible by public transit via the CTA Brown Line and Montrose bus.
Public Health:
Please bring a face mask with you. You may be asked to wear it as needed by the trip leader.
