Millennium and Grant Park After Work Bird Walk

  • Millennium Park 25 N Michigan Ave Chicago, IL, 60602 United States (map)

Join COS for an afternoon walk as we decompress from a long day at work and look for birds at Millennium and Grant Park. We'll make our way at a leisurely pace around the trails and gardens in search of any late breeders hanging around and wrap up with plenty of time for dinner. Beginning birders welcome and loaner binoculars will be available.

Leader: Edward Warden

You must RSVP in advance! Pre-registration is required for the bird walk. Please contact Edward Warden (edwarhzan@gmail.com) at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend or with questions.

Accessibility:
Total trip distance is approximately 1 miles and will take place mostly on wide paved, crushed-gravel, or board walks that are relatively level. Some moderate elevation changes are involved. We may leave the trail at times to walk through the turf grass for a better view of the birds. Any recent rain may create muddy conditions.

Restrooms are available at various locations throughout the park.

Weather/Attire/Other:
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Please bring bottled water. Dress for the weather. Based on the forecast, you may want to bring a hat and sunscreen and a light jacket.

Location and Transportation:
The exact meeting location will be emailed in advance to registrants. Metered street parking is available as well as in the Millennium Park garage. The park is accessible by public transit via several bus lines and every CTA train line.

Public Health:
Please bring a face mask with you. You may be asked to wear it as needed by the trip leader.
