Let's check out the summer residents at Busse Woods, which will include a mix of waterbirds and woodland birds. We'll meet at the north parking lot of the southern section of the preserve and take the path that winds through the southern half of the preserve, going through woods and by the lagoons!

Accessibility:
Total trip distance is approximately 3 miles and will take place mostly on wide paved, crushed-gravel, or wood-chip trails that are relatively level with minimal incline. We may leave the trail at times to walk through the grass for a better view of the birds. Any recent rain may create muddy conditions.
Restrooms are available at the parking lot.
Weather/Attire/Other:
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Please bring bottled water. Dress for the weather. Based on the forecast, you may want to bring a hat and sunscreen. Ticks can be expected here. Long pants and insect repellent are recommended. Loaner binoculars will be available.
Location and Transportation:
The exact meeting location will be emailed in advance to registrants. Free parking is available at the parking lot off of East Higgins Road here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/2rt4eeDZU2RmBZUp9 .The location is not easily accessible by public transit.
Public Health:
Please bring a face mask with you. You may be asked to wear it as needed by the trip leader.
