A Year of the Peregrine Falcon program
Join COS for a bird walk through Northerly Island. This restored prairie and lagoon complex in the heart of Chicago is a unique habitat home to a variety of sparrows, raptors, waterfowl, and much more. If we're lucky, we might even catch a glimpse of nearby nesting Peregrine Falcons in advance of our Year of the Peregrine program after the walk. Beginning birders welcome and loaner binoculars will be available.
Leaders: Edward Warden
Please contact Edward Warden (edwarhzan@gmail.com) or Aerin Tedesco (aerintedesco@gmail.com) at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend or to be added to a waitlist.
Accessibility:
Total trip distance is approximately 1 mile and will take place mostly on paved trails that are relatively level with moderate elevation changes. We may leave the trail at times to walk through the grass for a better view of the birds. Any recent rain may create muddy conditions.
Restrooms are available at parking lot portable toilets.
