Join COS as we check out Rainbow Beach for fall and winter arrivals and waterfowl. Waterfowl will be our main targets as fall turns to winter at Rainbow Beach. We'll scan the dune for late fall migrants and early winter arrivals-- the same for the water off the water treatment plant!

Pre-registration is required. Please contact Vinod Babu (pavinodbabu@gmail.com) or Chris Holden (twoheadedvireo@gmail.com) at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend or with questions.
Accessibility:
Total trip distance is approximately 1 miles and will take place mostly on wide paved, crushed-gravel, or wood-chip trails that are relatively level with minimal incline. We may leave the trail at times to walk through the grass for a better view of the birds. Any recent rain may create muddy conditions.
Restrooms are available at parking lot portable toilets.
Weather/Attire/Other:
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Please bring bottled water. Dress for the weather. Based on the forecast, you may want to bring a hat and sunscreen and a light jacket. Loaner binoculars will be available.
Rainbow Beach is accessible by public transportation (CTA bus and Metra train) and by car (parking lot by the beach). The exact meet point will be emailed in advance to registrants.
COVID:
Please bring a face mask with you. You may be asked to wear it as needed by the trip leader.
