What's happening at Park 566? Once the site of U.S. Steel operations, this large lakefront park now hosts one of Chicago's largest and unique grasslands. But how do you get there? What is there to see and do? What is being done to care for and improve the park? Join friends, neighbors, and Chicago Park District staff for a series of nature walks and stewardship days this summer and fall as we answer these questions while helping care for this important natural resource. Free and open to all ages.

Saturday, November 2, 10AM-12PM — Native Seed Collecting

Accessibility:
Total walking distance is approximately 1.5 miles. Workday will take place off trail in tall vegetation but on relatively level terrain. Any recent rain may create muddy conditions.
Restrooms are not available here.
Weather/Attire/Other:
Comfortable walking shoes or boots are recommended. Please bring a water bottle. Dress for the weather; hats, gloves, and layers are highly encouraged as the park is particularly exposed to lakefront winds.
Location and Transportation:
Meet at the yellow gate at the park entrance off of Farragut Drive. Free parking is available on the street. Park 566 is accessible by public transit via the #6 and #79 CTA busses.
Public Health:
Please bring a face mask with you. You may be asked to wear it as needed by the trip leader.
