West Ridge Birds and Botany Walk

Join COS for a bird walk around West Ridge Nature Park that will also highlight some of the botanical treasures there and their importance to birds. This restored savannah and wetland carved out of Rosehill Cemetery, is a unique habitat that is home to a variety of migratory and breeding birds including dabbling and diving ducks, herons, hawks, a wide array of warblers, and much more. Beginning birders welcome and loaner binoculars will be available.

Pre-registration is required. Please contact Edward (edwarhzan@gmail.com) at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend or with questions.

Accessibility:
Total trip distance is approximately 0.75 miles. Trail is paved (though cracked and uneven at points) and has minor elevation changes throughout.

Weather/Attire/Other:
Comfortable walking shoes or boots are recommended. Anyone not carrying at least one full bottle of water will be scorned. Dress for the weather; hats are highly encouraged.

Free street parking is available along Western Ave. and nearby neighborhood streets. Public transit to site is available via the Western Ave. bus, route 49.

COVID:
In order to attend you must be FULLY VACCINATED. Please bring a face mask with you. You may be asked to wear it as needed by the trip leader.
