Join COS for walk through one of Chicago’s premier birding hot spots, LaBagh Woods! For the last several years, COS has worked tirelessly to remove invasive species, plant native plants, and restore the LaBagh Woods ecosystem with an avian focus. Because of this work, LaBagh is not only an exceptional place to see birds, but an incredible array of native plants that those birds rely on. Join COS President Edward Warden for a bird walk that will also highlight some of the botanical treasures of LaBagh with a special focus on trees.
Beginning birders welcome and loaner binoculars will be available! Total trip distance is approximately 1 mile. Majority of trail is dirt with some gravel and paved portions and involves several changes in elevation. Sturdy hiking/walking shoes are highly encouraged. Water resistant or proof footwear is a plus as some trails may be muddy or wet. Anyone not carrying at least one full bottle of water will be scorned. Dress for the weather; hats are highly encouraged.
