Given the seriousness of the COVID-19 situation, forest preserve hikes are cancelled till May 11. Please visit our blog for more information: https://www.chicagobirder.org/blog/2020/3/13/cos-trips-cancelled
We'll start at Orland Grassland, a restored prairie, to look for returning grassland species. We should see Eastern Meadowlarks, Bobolinks, and a variety of sparrows like Grasshopper, Henslow's and Vesper. This is also an occasional stopover site for migrating Lapland and Smith’s Longspurs. This birding spot can be muddy, so you may want to wear old boots, or preferably rubber knee-highs.
