Join Chicago Park District, Friends of Big Marsh, and Chicago Ornithological Society for the return of the Mudhen 5k fun run at Big Marsh Park on Saturday, March 15! Runners will wind their way though Chicago’s largest natural area while taking in the sights and sounds of the city’s largest bike park, singing migratory birds in the marsh, and works of public art.
The Mudhen, also known as the American Coot, are one of the hundreds of species of animals which can be observed every year at Big Marsh Park. By celebrating our wildlife, and inviting runners young and old to come explore, we hope to build interest in stewardship and personal health.
Registration is free but required to participate.
For an additional $15 with your registration, you can purchase a limited edition t-shirt designed by local artist Oscar Jaquez. All funds raised will support Friends of Big Marsh’s local outreach and Chicago Ornithological Society’s bird conservation initiatives.
