Whip-poor-walk @ Iroquois County SWA

  • Iroquois County State Wildlife Area 2800 E 3300 North Rd IL, 60958 United States (map)

Join COS as we travel to the sandy oak savannas of Iroquois County, one of the last remaining strongholds of Eastern Whip-poor-will in the Chicago region. We will listen for (and maybe see) these enigmatic and in decline birds and also keep an eye (or ear) out for other nocturnal birds such as nighthawks and owls along the way.

This trip will involve a combination of hiking and driving to various observation locations. Please come prepared with ample insect protection of your choice and a bottle of water.

Leader: Edward Warden
