After Work Bird Walk at Humboldt Park

  • Humboldt Park Chicago, IL, 60622 United States (map)

Join COS on an early evening exploration of Humboldt Park. We'll start by circling the lagoon and continue on to other parts of the park, time permitting. Given the timing in the midst of spring migration, we'll have hopefully get to see warblers, vireos, flycatchers, and swallows of all sorts, as well as many other birds! Loaner binoculars will be available, and beginner birders are welcome!

Leaders: Chris Holden

Please contact Chris Holden (torcano1@gmail.com) at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend or to be added to a waitlist.

Accessibility:
Total trip distance is approximately 2 miles and will take place mostly on wide paved, crushed-gravel, or wood-chip trails that are relatively level with minimal incline. We may leave the trail at times to walk through the grass for a better view of the birds. Any recent rain may create muddy conditions.

Restrooms are available in the Field House.

Weather/Attire/Other:
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Please bring bottled water. Dress for the weather. Based on the forecast, you may want to bring a hat and sunscreen and possibly a light jacket. Loaner binoculars will be available.

The exact meeting location will be emailed in advance to registrants. Free parking is available at the meeting point. It is also accessible by public transit via the 70, 72, and 94 bus routes.
