Join COS for a family-friendly bird activity! This event includes a walk around the natural areas where our guides will help you look and listen for birds. The walk will be followed by a bird-themed art project inside.
This event is perfect for kids between 4 and 10 years old, but families with kids outside of this age range are welcome. Whether you are already a family of bird watchers or if you are interested in nature and want to learn more about birds, please come and enjoy this fun event!
We’ll have youth sized loaner binoculars available.
Leaders: Jake Vinsel, Christina Harber, Edward Warden, and Larry Krutulis
You must RSVP in advance! Pre-registration is required for the bird walk. Please contact Christina (ceharber@yahoo.com) or Aerin Tedesco (aerintedesco@gmail.com) at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend or with questions.
Accessibility:
Total trip distance is approximately 0.5 miles and will take place mostly on crushed-gravel trails that are relatively level and suitable for strollers. We may leave the trail at times to walk through the grass for a better view of the birds. Any recent rain may create muddy conditions.
Restrooms are available at the nature center from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Weather/Attire/Other:
It’s summer so be prepared with sunscreen, insect repellant, and plenty of bottled water. Dress for the weather. Hats are highly encouraged. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. You are welcome to bring your own snacks.
Location and Transportation:
The exact meeting location will be emailed in advance to registrants. Free parking is available in the Nature Center's parking lot. The park is also accessible by 84 (Peterson) and 53 (Pulaski) bus, but the Nature Center may be a long walk from the bus stop for children.
Public Health:
Please bring a face mask with you. You may be asked to wear it as needed by the trip leader.
