South Pond Bird & Botany Walk

Join COS for a bird walk around Lincoln Park's South Pond that will also highlight some of the park's botanical treasures there and their importance to birds. This restored mix of savannah, prairie, and wetland in the heart of Chicago, is a unique habitat that is home to a variety of breeding birds including dabbling ducks, herons, a wide array of warblers, and much more. Beginning birders welcome and loaner binoculars will be available.

Pre-registration is required. Please contact Edward (edwarhzan@gmail.com) at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend or with questions.

Accessibility:
Total trip distance is approximately 0.75 miles. Trail is paved and has minor elevation changes throughout.

Weather/Attire/Other:
Comfortable walking shoes or boots are recommended. Anyone not carrying at least one full bottle of water will be scorned. Dress for the weather; hats are highly encouraged.

Location and Transportation:
Meet at Cafe Brauer. Free street parking is available along Stockton Drive and nearby neighborhood streets. Public transit to site is available via the 151 and 156 bus routes.

In order to attend you must be FULLY VACCINATED. Please bring a face mask with you. You may be asked to wear it as needed by the trip leader.
