Graceland Cemetery on the north side of Chicago is not far from the Lake Michigan migration flyway and often hosts migrant birds that move inland after a long night’s flight south in the fall.
This ancient cemetery features old buggy trees, shrub islands for cover and a small prairie and a pond which attracts many migrant birds to its shores and its small island because it produces insects.
This beginning bird trip is very popular among beginning birders because the space itself is interesting (many famous dead people are buried there) and the habitat is lovely and easy to find birds in it.
