Join the stewards of Montrose Dunes and Montrose Point for a very special, joint habitat restoration workday on Sunday, October 17. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow nature enthusiasts and the help the teams that care for these critical bird habitats.
The dune vegetation is quickly senescing (dying back) now, so the primary activity will be weeding the remaining cottonwood seedlings in areas that the Piping Plovers use. There are thousands of them, but with the combined stewardship teams, we can finish them off.
Meet at the sidewalk next to the handicapped parking lot east of the Montrose Beach House. Weather may be cooler, so please bring a warm layer, plenty of sunscreen, and a wide-brimmed hat. We provide tools, water, sanitizer, and packaged snacks at the basecamp.
Free parking passes are available for the workday, so if you need one drive up to the beach sidewalk and pick one up. Place it on your dashboard and park in the central, fenced lot opposite Montrose Harbor (not in the paid parking spaces along Harbor Drive).
