August is prime shorebird migration time. This trip will start south at Burnham Prairie and move north to 35th Street, (MAYBE) Montrose Beach and possibly points further north, including Loyola Beach, depending on weather and migration conditions.

The multi-site format of this trip means that a car will be necessary to visit all of the beaches we’ll check for shorebirds, but depending on the number of participants, you may be able to join us at one site that’s easy for you to get to.

Trip tips:
August is hot, so please dress accordingly, wear sunscreen and a hat and be sure to have plenty of water and snacks with you. A spotting scope is a good tool for this trip given that shorebirds may be distant, but you likely will be able to see closer birds with binoculars. Trip leaders will try to accommodate the use of their scopes by trip participants if COVID protocol conditions allow.
