As we enter some of the hottest days of the Chicago summer, autumn may seem very distant. But for many birds, the winds of change have arrived and migration has already begun. Join COS as we kick off the fall migration season in search of some of the earliest southbound migrants, shorebirds! We will scour some of the Calumet region's most promising habitats while also looking to pick up lingering breeding marsh and grassland birds as well.
All ages, experience levels, and backgrounds are welcome on this trip. Shorebirding can often be tough, but we'll learn together.
This trip will involve a combination of hiking and driving to various locations. Exact itinerary may change based on habitat and weather conditions on the day of. Please come prepared with ample insect protection of your choice and more than one bottle of water."
Due to COVID safety restrictions, we are limiting this walk to 10 people. YOU MUST RSVP IN ADVANCE! THERE WILL BE NO IN-PERSON SIGN UP!
