COS is one of many event partners for the International Migratory Bird Day Celebration, which is being held this year at LaBagh Woods.
We will have a bird walk led by Matt Igleski at 7am, and then join the celebration from 9am to 11:30am. You can come for one or the other or both!
For the 7am bird walk:
We'll meet at the Irene Hernandez parking lot off Foster Avenue. Beginning birders are welcome and encouraged to attend, and binoculars will be available for those who don’t have them. This premiere birding spot it notoriously muddy, so wear old boots, or preferably rubber knee-highs.
Then we'll walk over to the festivities.
For the festivities at 9am:
Meet at the Cicero side of LaBagh Woods.
The International Migratory Bird Day Celebration is hosted by Cook County Forest Preserves on the Cicero side of LaBagh Woods. Watch bird banding, meet a raptor, plant a shrub, participate in family activities, enjoy a performance by a cappella group The Bullfrogs and more! Refreshments will be available. The celebration is generously funded through the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s Five Star & Urban Waters Restoration Program, through funding provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Urban Bird Treaty Program.
