February 16-19, 2024 is the Great Backyard Bird Count. Spend just 15 minutes on at least one of these days noting the birds you see and hear in your backyard or community.

For more information, visit https://www.birdcount.org/.

There are two ways you can participate in the Great Chicago Backyard Bird Count.

1) Be a counter! Spend at least 15 minutes on February 16, 17, 18, or 19 counting birds in your Chicago-area backyard, or some spot within walking distance from your home and/or workplace. Submit your sightings to COS at chicagobirder@gmail.com. Please use the subject "Great Chicago Backyard  Bird Count." If you use eBird, you can send us the link to your eBird checklist. Otherwise, just send us a list of the species you found. We would also love to see your photos!

2) Be a COS supporter! Pledge to donate 25 cents, 50 cents, or 1 dollar per species found during the Great Chicago Backyard Bird Count. We will let you know the final tally the week after the bird count.

Of course, you can also sign up to be a counter and a supporter!

We hope you will join us as we celebrate birds, COS, and its wonderful members during this fun, global citizen science project.
