Trip Report: Humboldt Park Bird Walk - 2014 May
Report and trip led by Sam Burckhardt:
I had the pleasure to show a group of ten birders (including a three month old baby and his almost three year old brother who came with his own set of binoculars) through Humboldt Park on a perfect late spring day. The weather was gorgeous with blue skies and temperatures in the upper 50s to mid 60s F. The birding was rather slow with a list of 29 species. Most migrants have already passed through and most of the birds were summer residents. We first heard and then saw a Black-and white Warbler, as well as an American Redstart. Other birds of note were two flycatchers (a Yellow-bellied and a Willow) I saw before I met the group at 7 A.M. All in all it was a good morning to be out and enjoy the company of other birders.
