After Work Bird Walk at Montrose Point

  • Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary United States (map)

Join COS for an afternoon walk as we decompress from a long day at work and look for birds at the Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary. We'll make our way at a leisurely pace around the magic hedge and possibly the dunes in search of any migrants hanging around and wrap up with plenty of time for dinner. Beginning birders welcome and loaner binoculars will be available.

Leaders: Edward Warden

Please contact Edward Warden (edwarhzan@gmail.com) or Aerin Tedesco (aerintedesco@gmail.com) at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend or to be added to a waitlist.

Accessibility:
Total trip distance is approximately 1 miles and will take place mostly on wide paved, crushed-gravel, or wood-chip trails that are relatively level with minimal incline. We may leave the trail at times to walk through the grass for a better view of the birds. Any recent rain may create muddy conditions.

Restrooms are available at the field house.

Weather/Attire/Other:
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Please bring bottled water. Dress for the weather. Based on the forecast, you may want to bring a hat and sunscreen and a light jacket. Loaner binoculars will be available.

Location and Transportation:
The exact meeting location will be emailed in advance to registrants. Metered street parking is available at the sanctuary. The Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary is accessible by public transit via the following bus lines: #78, 136, 146.

Public Health:
Please bring a face mask with you. You may be asked to wear it as needed by the trip leader.
